World Naked Bike Ride.

Is anyone on the forums doing this? It's a slightly mental way to protest against cars, but looks like a laugh.

I take it nobody went then? I couldn't get away either. However, we can organise one here in Cumbria for next year if there are enough participants. Nudity not required at all;) I realise it's a small community and not quite the same as cycling starkers around somewhere like London where you're relatively anonymous. In fact I think a few places have already ditched or discouraged the 'naked' element in favour of bodypaint or costumes.
I'm quite happy to do the flyers, contact WNBR etc, but don't want to end up being the only one on the ride!! We do have special problems with cars in Cumbria and the dependency on them, so some sort of protest is in order I think;)

we screened the film 'a world naked bike ride' in Carlisle a few month ago
we got a great reception - and there were a few people that wanted to do one here - I think the plan might have been to have one somewhere like watchtree nature reserve as a practice - I can put you in touch with the person who said they were going to set this up.....
We have a monthly critical mass in Carlisle - last month we had 25 riders - and we all ride as a group - as if we are a car - this empowers us and makes the point that we are road users too.

I'm not sure Carlisle would be the best place for it in some ways. It needs a boot up the behind about traffic policy, but it's already one massive traffic jam and disrupting it even more with a cycling protest might be counter productive. I'm open to ideas about the best location though.
