Himalayan Balsam Removal - Thurs 26th Aug and Weds 1st Sept 6:30 pm onwards meet on Low Road by the far entrance to the Lakes Home Centre.
We have been asked to clear the area behind and adjacent to the Lakes Home Centre in Cockermouth on Low Road which has quite a bit of Balsam. The entrance to the area is down a track to the RHS of the Lakes Centre as you look at it from the road.
Come and help remove this invasive species from near the River banks before it seeds.
No specialist equipment its really easy.
You will just need gloves, long sleeves and long trousers, glasses, insect repellent/sun cream if we are lucky, waterproofs if not!
We will be working in a field and on river banks so wellies, though not essential might help. Boots would do.
There may be spiky plants potentially in the vicinity but these areas can be avoided.
If you or anyone you know may be interested in coming along to help then please come along to the meeting point on the day - you will be most welcome.
It will only be cancelled in heavy rain, otherwise I'll be there!!
