Hysterical Fashion
Created from Nature, Inspired by History
Hysterical Fashion is a unique opportunity to join Art, History and Environment in highly inventive creations. Be part of a week of conception where you will design and make costumes inspired by different periods of local History and made through a variety of traditional skills, with a large range of materials (from fabric to metal, felt to grass).
The History of Britain has been influenced greatly from one invader to the other, one king to the other. And so did its fashion… Today we have the chance to be inspired by the past of the United Kingdom to give a lesson for the future. By making costumes from sustainable materials partially through traditional skills, inspired both by History and the High Street, the participants will have the opportunity to revise their perception of the environment. Hopefully they will also leave marks in the mind of the larger public, by sharing their discoveries during fashion shows.
We are currently looking for participants for Hysterical Fashion, which will take place from August 26th to August 31st (Fashion Shows August 30th-31st). No previous knowledge is needed in Fashion or History, only the desire to expand your knowledge and creative capacities by learning new skills. Also for the ones more interested in woodwork than in fabric cutting, there are opportunities to work on the props: jewellery, weapons and tools instead of costumes.
