or...Community Flooding Response
Beyond the current emergency response to Cockermouth's current crisis there will be a long term need to support local families and businesses who have been hit by flooding.
Experience from previous communities like Morpeth is that this will take a little while to put in place, as the community and voluntary sectors begin to come together, to fill the gaps that the statutory services cannot respond to.
We need a single point close to the Town Centre where those in need can be connected with the help being offered by local organisations and volunteers.
Riversmeet is working with Churches Together to help to put this in place and is keen to talk to other organisations and anyone wanting to volunteer time and skills to support the community effort.

DROP IN CENTRE OPENING TOMORROW
The Central Information Point for community support and advice will be in the Christ Church Rooms in South Street. If you want to register as a volunteer to help in the next stage of responding to the flooding, please go down and fill in a form so that your details and offer of support can be added to the list.
With Thanks
